Three Cheers: Sutter Lions help clean up

Comments 0 | Recommend 0

I was very impressed with the recent Sutter Community CleanUp Day. Yuba-Sutter Disposal had everything in place and ready to go before 8 a.m. They were so organized that it was amazing how smoothly the traffic went through. The Sutter County Sheriff’s Department and Sutter Community Services District assisted in the control of vehicles entering the Sutter Union High School grounds.

Prior to the start of the cleanup, the Sutter Lions Club was given a list of senior citizens and disabled persons who were in need of assistance. The Lions had seven pickups with trailers driving around Sutter picking up items (everything from appliances, mattresses, televisions and just trash) from over 35 residents, some requiring more than one vehicle. The Lions members worked non-stop until the event closed.

My husband is a member of the Sutter Lions Club. I am so proud of the club for their dedication to our community and their efforts in assisting those in need.
Thank you to all who made this event possible and for helping to make our community a better (and cleaner) place to live.

PAY HIKE?
What should the board of trustees do with the proposed $29,282 pay raise for Chancellor Nicki Harrington?
Rescind it. Now is not the time.
Give it to her. She should be compensated fairly and competitively.
