Man pleads not guilty in doctor's killing

A Sebastopol man pleaded not guilty today at his arraignment in Sutter County Superior Court on a murder charge in the death of a Yuba City physician.

Jeff Wayne Clay, 49, remained in Sutter County Jail without bail. He was arrested Saturday on suspicion of killing Hyo Seoung Shin, 64, the previous night behind an apartment building in the 700 block of Shasta Street.

At the request of the Yuba City Police Department, the Sutter County Sheriff's Department declined today to release the results of an autopsy performed earlier in the day on Shin. Department spokesman Brenda Baker said police felt releasing the results would interfere with their investigation.
