Letter: Things need to change in justice system
A guy poisoned my dogs and we went to court; he pleaded no contest and was supposed to stay in jail until April.
They let him out the same day. What is wrong with the justice system? He is a repeat offender for other things, and they dropped the charges from animal cruelty to disturbing the peace.
After I was told by the DA that he would be in until April, he also had felony charges against him, but they let him out on good behavior. What is wrong with the justice system? When does this stop? When he actually kills some one?
He tried to kill my service dogs and gets away with it. The county needs to get better attorneys and keep them in jail like they are supposed to be, and not get out because they were good.
The offenders need to start doing their full time, and good behavior should not count.
I don't think just because you sit in jail until your court date should count as time served. Things need to change in the justice system. Just saying.
