49ers take BVC opener

The 49ers started strong.
Joe Garcia belted a three-run homer, Chris Stocker went 4 for 5 with three RBIs and the Yuba College baseball team topped visiting Napa Valley 12-8 on Friday to win its Bay Valley Conference opener.
“We just played great,” 49ers coach Tim Gloyd said about his team’s bats. “Anytime (Napa) scored, we scored.”
J.D. Downer was 4 for 4 and reliever Jake Johnson picked up the win for Yuba (5-5, 1-0).
