WEEK FIVE ROUNDUP: River Valley routs Lindhurst
Wheatland races past Oroville
The River Valley High football team put an exclamation point on its nonconference schedule.
The Falcons trounced Lindhurst 64-0 at Dean Miller Stadium in Olivehurst on Friday night.
Quarterback Izaya Johnson hooked up with Jordan Noall for three touchdowns in the victory.
T.J. Dove, Dewey Maxham, Esteban French, Kyle Magenheimer and Terrell Roach all scored rushing touchdowns for the Falcons.
Defensively, Xavier Quintana returned an interception for a score.
RV (3-2) opens its Tri-County Conference schedule at home next week against Inderkum. The Blazers (0-5) open their Golden Empire League slate at Dixon.
Wheatland 41, Oroville 12
In Oroville — The Pirates rebounded from last week's tough loss to Sutter with a lopsided Butte View League victory over the Tigers at Harrison Stadium.
Junior quarterback Jackson Hopking completed 9 of 13 passes for 129 yards and two touchdowns.
Jordan Samson caught five of those passes for 60 yards and touchdown. Joel Johnson hauled in three passes for 57 yards a score as well.
Senior Michael Robinson carried the ball eight times for 121 yards and three touchdowns. Mark Campos added 89 yards on nine carries and TD also.
The Pirates (4-1, 1-1) continue BVL play next week when they head back to Oroville to take on Las Plumas.
Chester 51, Colusa 13
In Chester — Kyle Cervantes and Andrew Rodriguez both had rushing touchdowns for the RedHawks (2-3) in a nonleague loss to the Volcanoes.
Anderson 49, Gridley 6
In Anderson — Mat Scott hooked up with Mikey Herrera for the Bulldogs' (0-5) lone score in a nonleague defeat up north to the Cubs.
JV FOOTBALL
Sutter 60, Orland 0
In Sutter — The Huskies made quick work of the Trojans in BVL action at Wayne Gadberry Field.
Cobe Willis scored three touchdowns for the Huskies (5-0, 2-0) from 19, 44 and 24 yards out. Brayden Hungrige scored from 11 yards out, Alex Lopez added a 25-yard scamper and Jace Heryford had a 1-yard score.
Brett Ahlers picked up a 20-yard touchdown run and also made an interception on defense.
Randy Post connected with Cassady King on a 19-yard touchdown pass and Darren Mahan returned an interception 70 yards for a score.
Riley Vickner led a a strong defensive effort from the Huskies while Chase Miles had a fumble recovery.
Coach Mike Landa credited the offensive line play of Kenny Clark, Rick Williams, Alec Shelton Tyler Quillin and Jordan Miller.
