Briefs: Lighting of Live Oak's Christmas tree slated today
Entertainment and free photos with Santa are part of tonight's "Small" Town Holiday Celebration on Broadway in Live Oak.
Festivities from 5 p.m.-8 p.m. include the lighting of the city's Christmas tree at 6:15 p.m.
Hosted by the city of Live Oak, the event includes food for sale, a variety of vendors and a military tree.
Water agency chief to be guest speaker
Yuba County Water Agency general manager Curt Aikens will be the guest speaker at the Yuba County Alliance for Development's quarterly meeting on Dec. 12.
Aikens will discuss the process of federal relicensing for Bullards Bar Dam, PG&E's lease for Colgate hydroelectric facilities, and other water resource issues. The agency is also involved in ongoing discussions over salmon runs on the Yuba River and possible legal action over dams operated by the US Army Corps of Engineers.
The meeting will start at 8:30 a.m. in the Wheatland Room at the Yuba County Government Center, 915 Eighth St., Marysville.
Business seminar scheduled Dec. 6 in Yuba City
Yuba City will host the Yuba-Sutter Economic Development Corporation's final business resource seminar of the year, beginning at 8 a.m. Dec. 6.
Free to Yuba-Sutter businesses, the 90-minute seminar will touch on business attraction, expansion and retention; workforce development; training and education; and tax credits.
The seminar will take place at the Sutter County Veterans Memorial Community Building, 1425 Veterans Memorial Circle, Yuba City. Seating is limited. To reserve a space, call 751-8555.
