Reno bus trip planned March 3
Reservations are due by Sunday for a seat on the bus trip to Reno, hosted by the Guadalupana Association of St. Isidore Catholic Church.
The trip is March 3, departing at 7 a.m. from the Kmart shopping center parking lot on Gray Avenue in Yuba City. The bus will return at 6 p.m.
Cost for the trip is $35 per person and includes casino and buffet coupons.

The Good Vibrations Square Dance Club is starting a beginner’s class at 6:30 p.m. Monday at Barry Elementary School in Yuba City.

Orchids are topic at garden club
Speaker Howard Anthony will talk about orchids at the next meeting of the Sutter Buttes Garden Club.
The program also includes demonstrations by Bill Theiss, Bev Foss and Joel Hornstein and a short program on the club’s new website presented by Kaitlin Massey.
Doors will open at 10 a.m. Tuesday at the Yuba-Sutter Fairgrounds, 442 Franklin Ave., Yuba City.

Authors to speak of Humboldt trail
David Nopel and Marti Leicester, authors of “The Humboldt Wagon Trail,” are the featured speakers for the annual meeting of the Friends of the Colusa County Library.
Their presentation includes a slide show and narrative of the book that is a historical account of the Humboldt wagon road from Chico to Susanville.
The meeting begins at 6:30 p.m. Thursday at the Colusa Industrial Properties, conference room, 100 Sunrise Blvd., Colusa.
Books will be available for purchase after the program.

Free occult blood testing offered
Rideout Cancer Center will have free occult blood testing kits available from March 1 - 7 during National Colorectal Cancer Awareness Month.
The test screens for lower gastrointestinal bleeding that may be associated with colorectal cancer.

March 1 is the fifth annual Dress in Blue Day in observance of the month.

Table serving class offered by Elks
Training in proper table serving techniques at banquets is being offered for youth ages 12 to 22 by the Marysville Elks Lodge.
The free course begins March 9 at the lodge, at 920 D St. in Marysville, and continues weekends until March 30.
The deadline to register is March 7.
Instructor John Nicoletti of the Yuba College Culinary Arts Department will lead demonstrations in serving environments.
Students who complete the course will receive a certificate and will be eligible for potential volunteer and paid employment opportunities.

Flower show bus trip set March 20
Tickets are available for the Sutter Buttes Garden Club’s bus trip March 20 to the San Francisco Flower and Garden Show.
The cost is $65 and includes bus fare, admission to the show, driver’s tip and bus parking fees.
Tickets can be purchased through March 8 at Yuba City Florist, 669 Plumas St., Yuba City.
Payments must be in cash or check payable to the Sutter Buttes Garden Club.

Logue to address tea party meeting
Assemblyman Dan Logue will be the guest speaker for the Sutter Buttes Tea Party Patriots.
A representative of the 3rd District and chief whip of the Republican caucus, Logue will discuss the latest bills introduced in Sacramento.
Also on the program is conservative political comedian Eric Golub.
Doors open at 6 p.m. March 4, with the meeting starting at 6:30 p.m., at the Sutter-Yuba Association of Realtors, 1558 Starr Drive, Yuba City.

VFW post hosts pancake breakfast
Veterans of Foreign Wars Post No. 5731 is hosting a pancake breakfast from 7 a.m. to 11 a.m. March 16 at the Veterans Memorial Building, 249 Sycamore St., Gridley.
A breakfast of pancakes, scrambled eggs, sausage and biscuits and gravy will be served.
