Truck fire investigated as arson

Corning Fire Chief Martin Spannaus said he is investigating a pickup truck fire in Corning as arson.

Firefighters responded to the burning vehicle around 8:15 p.m. Saturday on Meadowbrook Lane.

The truck was destroyed by the flames and a travel trailer parked behind the truck was damaged.

Spannaus said the cause of the fire was an open flame device. He doesn't know if the arson was a random act or if the pickup was targeted.
