Letter: Cooked up ‘truths' more like it
Recent letters here by Trumon Cooper and E. Frank Cook call for a retort.
Let's look at some of Mr. Cooper's statements. He is a farmer, and he claims he has farmed without help of government; just two questions here, did he never receive a break or help in price supports in any way? And remember farm product supports are not only direct payments for produce, and did he never benefit from that colored diesel fuel, which is cheaper than we pay at the pump?
As far as his membership in the tea party, I don't doubt there are members of the tea party who are ex-service members. We honor Mr. Cooper for his service in World War II, but what does that have to do with Mr. Scarfe? Do you know his educational background, do you know what his life of service to society has been?
As for Mr. Cook. He accuses many, with whom he disagrees, of making up no-truths and even made-up truths. What a hilarious statement: exactly what are "no-truths" and "made-up truths"? Sounds to me as though Mr. Cook is cooking up "truths" of his own.
And Mr. Scarfe's attribute of "conservative ignorance" is well taken for if Mr. Cook really believes that Obama is a socialist and is going to make over the United States into a communistic society, then, he needs a serious education update, and a reality check on current events and the history of the world.
