Mid-Valley
Blood drives set this month
BloodSource is sponsoring three blood drives this month in the Mid-Valley area.
• Thursday — 3 to 6 p.m. at Parkside United Methodist Church drive, corner of Ninth and G streets, Williams. Donors will receive free T-shirts.
• Saturday — 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. at Calvary Christian Center, 2620 Colusa Highway, Yuba City. Donors will also receive free T-shirts.
• Nov. 21 — 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. Nov. 21 at bloodmobiles in the Cinemark parking lot, 1410 Whyler Ave., Yuba City. Donors will receive a free movie pass.
Eligible donors must be in generally good health, free from cold and flu symptoms for at least 48 hours, at least 17 years old and weigh at least 110 pounds.
Photo identification is required.

Yuba City
Tai Chi is topic of Parkinson's group
The benefits of Tai Chi for Parkinson's patients is the topic of this month's meeting of the Tri-County Parkinson's support group at the Sutter North Medical Foundation in Yuba City.
The meeting is at 1 p.m. Monday at 969 Plumas St., Suite 208. The group regularly meets the second Monday of each month at the same time and location.

Prestige to host Alzheimer's events
Prestige Assisted Living in Marysville is honoring persons with Alzheimer's disease and caregivers in two events at 515 Harris St.
The Lunch and Learn support group series discussing Alzheimer's and other forms of dementia and their toll on family is at noon Tuesday. Lunch will be provided. Dr. Leslie McLean is the guest speaker.
Candles of Care, a commemorative candle lighting ceremony, is at 6 p.m. Nov. 15. The nationwide event is coordinated by the Alzheimer's Foundation of America to honor and remember those affected by the disease or related illnesses.
Refreshments will be served at the event.

Yuba City
Weight loss is topic of lecture
A lecture on losing weight and maintaining weight loss is planned at The Process of Healing, 481 Ainsley Ave., Yuba City.
Slated at 7 p.m. Nov. 18, the one-hour lecture will provide information on methods to help control sugar and carbohydrates bingeing and simple lifestyle changes to normalize appetite.
