Letter: Resident requests Hillcrest conditions
I have some very nice neighbors who feel very strongly on both sides of this issue. After watching, and being rather cautious, I thought it might be the time to express my opinion, thinking there are probably a lot of others like myself.
Here is how my thinking evolved as the issue progressed --
1. I thought I was part of Yuba City, I paid my water bill to them. But I guess I’m not, I’m still a stepchild. (I wonder if street costs are next?)
2. The “Informational” fliers smelled more like slick sales to me.
3. Why did my water pressure drop shortly after the fliers came out?
4. Why do I feel that I may be paying for future growth?
5. Why do I feel threatened by “we’ll just sell it” (and cast you to the wolves)?
So you think I’m against it do you? Nope, I am for it and here’s why:
1. Water meters are going in no matter what, and that means higher water bills.
2. Better water quality equates to better housing values.
3. I would like to have better quality water.
But I do have some requests. First, for Mayor Ramirez to remove himself from the issue and the city to refrain from threats. I would like to be assured I will not be paying for the cost of future development. Oh yeah, and I guess one last thing -- for a big improvement in behavior. Grown-ups should be able to disagree respectfully.
