Marysville police acquire Humvee
A new Marysville police Humvee doubles as a emergency response vehicle and a tribute to military veterans.
"It came to us from the military and didn't cost the city a dime," Sgt. Chris Sachs said. "So we wanted to make sure it also honored our local veterans."
Acquired in July from a military surplus equipment program, Sachs called the vehicle a valuable addition to the Police Department's fleet, especially in emergency situations.
"With floods or wildfires, to have something like this for those times will be very valuable," Sachs said.
Additionally, police plan to decorate the vehicle in a manner that pays tribute to veterans.
Later this month, Yuba-Sutter veterans will be invited to the police station to autograph the vehicle. Those signatures will be sealed into the paint.
The Humvee will be on display on Sunday during the Veteran's Day Parade in Marysville with veterans, Sachs said.
