Wagner honored in Chico
Francis Wagner of Wagner Insurance is the recipient of the Agri-Business of the Year Award given Tuesday night during the Farm City Celebration event, held at Sierra Nevada Brewing Co. in Chico.
Through his work as the president and CEO of Wagner Insurance Agency, Wagner was instrumental in the development of the rice dryer program, in use today with Allied Insurance.
He also was selected as a member of the agent's council for Cal Farm in 1986. Around this time Wagner became involved in the Durham Exchange Club, including serving as president. In 1988 he was also the first president of the Northern California Counties Center for the Prevention of Child Abuse.
He began in the farm insurance industry in 1978, and founded his agency in 1981.
He holds the insurance industry agri-business and farm insurance specialty designation, is a longtime Butte County Farm Bureau member, as well as a member of the California Warehouse Association.
Other award recipients include: Rich McGowan, Ag Service Award; and Rod and Andrea Carter, Community Service Award.
