Letter: Residents deserve 'decent water'

I, too, would like drinkable water (as in clear and pleasant tasting) that Yuba City is offering. I am in District 1 of the Hillcrest water area and thus lack both these qualities. However, in reading what I can find and listening to what I can hear (thank you KUBA for airing some discussion on this subject), there seems to be more unanswered questions.

I am having a problem getting my head around the city providing surface water through my current water pipes and charging me $3,000 over and above the regular charge for water. I also understand there is some disparity of how seniors in the south and west part of the city are or will be charged when compared to the rest of Yuba City. The city bought Hillcrest Water knowing very well there were problems with it. Why? And why treat us differently than the rest of the city?

Maybe the Appeal-Democrat could run a series of questions and answers — without the spin and answer the questions germane to what is going on. We could vote against what the city says it is offering and win, but what will we have won? Will it cost even more in the future? We need and deserve decent water. We should demand it.
