Engagement: White/Brookins

Victoria Noel White of Coloma and Richard Cannan Brookins of Sacramento plan to wed Aug. 18 at Silverthorn Meadows in Camino.

The bride-to-be, daughter of Dale and Cindy White of Coloma, graduated in 2003 from Ponderosa High School in Shingle Springs and received two bachelor's degrees, in genetics and psychology, from the University of California, Davis.

She works as a research associate for Monsanto Vegetable Seed in Woodland.

Her fiancé, the son of Craig and June Brookins of Yuba City, graduated in 2003 from Yuba City High School and received a bachelor's degree in chemistry from UC Davis.

After previously working for Agilent Technologies, he is preparing to go to graduate school and is a junior researcher and volunteer for the UC Davis chemistry department.

His club memberships include the American Chemistry Society, the National Rifle Association and the California Waterfowl Association.

Both attended Folsom Lake Junior College.
