Yuba women still unbeaten
Local Roundup - The Yuba College women's soccer team improved to 7-0 overall after sending Skyline (4-1-1) to its first defeat with a 3-0 road win on Tuesday.
“It was so windy today; it was a pretty weird game,” said head coach Jason Spain. “They were a good team, but our back line played better than theirs and we got the win.”
Chandler Davis had two goals and Noelanoi Bio added another score for the 49ers.

BOYS SOCCER
Marysville 5, Highlands 2
Jared Lizardo scored three goals and assisted on another as the Indians (4-3, 1-1) scored all of their goals in the first half and cruised for their first Golden Empire League victory.
Nelson MacHuca added a goal and three assists, and J.J. Sokoloski, Marysville's starting goalkeeper who was playing in the field, added a goal.
Faith Chr. 3, Redding Chr. 1
Vince Hifcock scored two goals to lead Faith Christian (6-4) to a home win over Redding Christian.
Carson Risenhoover scored.
GIRLS TENNIS
Gridley 8, Wheatland 1
Gridley lost just one singles match as the Bulldogs defeated Wheatland in the Butte View League match.
Cassie Jimenez (6-1, 6-3), Karina Hudson (7-5, 6-1), Sarah Johnson (6-4, 6-4), Linda Vue (6-3, 6-0) and Tiffany Leishman (7-5, 2-6, 7-6) all won their singles matches for Gridley.
In doubles play, Jimenez and Hudson won 8-5, Johnson teamed with Vue to win 8-6 and Leishman teamed with Holly Havens to win 8-6 for the Bulldogs.
Jennifer Siegele (6-1, 7-5) was the lone winner for Wheatland.
Pioneer 7, River Valley 2
Manprett Randhawa and Emma Aikens each won singles matches in the Falcons' Tri-County Conference loss to the Patriots in Woodland.
Randhawa won her match, 6-2, 6-2 and Aikens earned a 7-5, 6-4 win for River Valley (0-4 TCC).
Sutter 5, Las Plumas 4
The Huskies took two of three doubles matches to edge the host Thunderbirds in a Butte View League match.
Melissa VandenHeuvel teamed with Kristen Ward for an easy 8-0 win, and the team of Chelsea Stallings-Petra Tica also won, 8-5.
VandenHeuvel notched a singles victory, 6-0, 6-0, and Katie Chapman (6-2, 2-6, 7-6 (7-4)) and Taylor Franco (6-4, 6-1) also earned singles victories.
VOLLEYBALL
Faith Christian 3, New Life 1
Katie DeMeritt had 20 service points and five aces to lead Faith Christian (3-4) to a 19-25, 25-6, 25-17, 25-9 victory
Stephanie Sluder had eight kills and Kayla Trimble had seven kills and a block.
Wheatland 3, Live Oak 0
The Pirates moved to 5-2 with a 25-8, 25-10, 25-15 win.
Rebecca Green had 18 assists, Miah Hill had seven kills and four blocks and Shara Courtright also had seven kills in the victory.
East Nicolaus 3, Williams 0
Megan Campouris had 19 service points and three aces for the Spartans (10-3), who shut out Williams, 25-14, 25-20 and 25-16.
Alyse Uhland recorded 11 kills and Alyssa Smotherman had 20 assists in the win.
JV BOYS SOCCER
Highlands 3, Marysville 1
Edgardo Terriquez scored the Indians' lone goal in a Golden Empire League loss to host Highlands.
Justin McFarland played well defensively for Marysville.
Yuba City 4, Inderkum 1
Bobby Madrigal and Mike Xiong scored two goals each and the Honkers (11-4, 3-1) routed the Tigers in Tri-County Conference game at Geweke Field in Yuba City.
JV VOLLEYBALL

Laura Thorpe had two assists and Kynsie Lowell added two kills for the Lions (3-4) who won, 25-10 and 25-15.
Live Oak 2, Wheatland 0
Wheatland lost a tough match, 25-19, 25-27 and 15-13.
Anna West had 10 kills for the Pirates.
