Woman foils Olivehurst carjacking

I was thinking about building a moat for protection, if only I had built it a week earlier I could have had it filled for free ;) Good on the lady for drawing attention to herself and keeping safe; the best thing you can do in these situations is draw attention to yourself and/or call the authorities (yes you can have other means of protecting yourself, but those are the first two bases you should have covered).

Authorities are looking for a man they said tried — and failed — to carjack a 65-year-old woman Wednesday night in Olivehurst.
"The good thing was she remained calm and was able to draw attention to herself," said Yuba County sheriff's Lt. Shaun Smith.
The woman spotted a man outside her home around 7:45 p.m. as she pulled into her driveway alone in the 1500 block of Sixth Avenue, Smith said.
Her name was not released Thursday.
She parked and the man appeared at the driver's side door and grabbed the handle, Smith said.
As the driver backed up her vehicle, the man went to the other side and tried to open the passenger door.
The victim honked her horn, alerting a neighbor and the man ran away, Smith said.
He was last seen running east on Sixth Avenue.
No one was injured and no weapons were involved.
Deputies described the man as a white man in his early 20s, wearing a white T-shirt, shorts and a dark baseball hat.
