Yuba-Sutter Open Dart Tournament hits the spot
Destiny Rower's smile quickly vanished after throwing darts competitively for the first time.
Rower, 13, of Marysville, was competing with her uncle Rudy Johnson of Marysville in the adult-youth doubles, age 13 to 17, category at the third annual Yuba-Sutter Open Dart Tournament Saturday at the Bonanza Inn in Yuba City.
Rower was nervous before the match got under way, saying, "I'm worried that I'm going to lose."
Her worry came true as the team was eliminated after their first match.
Yuba-Sutter Open founder Debbie Mitchell of Colusa was happy with the turnout to the three-day event that concludes today.
"Last year, we didn't have very many youth, and this year we doubled that number," she said.
Matthew Jackson and stepson Alijiah Bryant, 12, both of Live Oak, competed in the adult-youth doubles, age 7 to 12, category.
"I came to the youth shoot to support the youth and help them grow," Jackson said.
