William F. Hawkins Sr.
William Francis Hawkins Sr., 71, of Yuba City died Jan. 15, 2006, at Rideout Memorial Hospital.
Born in Yuba City, he was a lifelong Yuba-Sutter resident.
He was an assistant highway engineer for the California Department of Transportation for 40 years, retiring in 1993.
He served in the California National Guard for five years and was a coach for the Peach Bowl Little League for 14 years.
Survivors include his wife of 50 years, Sandra L. Hawkins of Yuba City; a son, William F. Hawkins Jr. of Yuba City; a daughter, Shirley A. Hawkins of Yuba City; four grandchildren; and five great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by a son, John A. Hawkins, and two sisters.
Donations may be made to the American Heart Association or the American Diabetes Association.
Services: Visitation is from 4 to 7 p.m. Thursday at Ullrey Memorial Chapel, 817 Almond St., in Yuba City. A funeral service is scheduled at 10 a.m. Friday, also at the chapel. Burial will follow at Sutter Cemetery.
