Joseph V. Ocegueda

Joseph Victor Ocegueda, 73, of Yuba City died Jan. 10, 2006, in Yuba City.


Born in Guatemala City, Guatemala, he was a Yuba-Sutter resident for 20 years.


He retired as a letter carrier for the U.S. Postal Service after 22 years of service. In addition, he served in the U.S. Air Force during the Korean and Vietnam wars, retiring as a master sergeant.


He was a member of River Valley Christian Fellowship Center in Yuba City, Yuba-Sutter Cycling Club and the Diabetes Society of Yuba-Sutter; and a life member of the Veterans of Foreign Wars 8616, Honolulu, Hawaii.


Survivors include a daughter, Sharon Smith of Yuba City; a son, Scott Ocegueda of Marysville; his twin sister, Matilda Villalobos of Los Angeles; six grandchildren; and six great-grandchildren.


He was preceded in death by his wife, Joan Ocegueda.


Donations may be made to the Leukemia and Lymphoma Society, 4604 Roseville Road, Suite 100, North Highlands, CA 95660; Fremont Rideout Hospice, 970 Plumas St., Yuba City, CA 95991; or the Diabetes Society of Yuba-Sutter, 822 Richland Road, Yuba City, CA 95991.


Services: A service is scheduled at 1 p.m. Thursday at River Valley Christian Fellowship Center, 1764 Tierra Buena Road, Yuba City, with Pastor Maury Robertson officiating. Burial will follow at Sutter Cemetery, with military honors provided by the Beale Air Force Base Honor Guard. Arrangements are under the direction of Ullrey Memorial Chapel in Yuba City.
