Yuba City
River Valley High student will study at Stanford
River Valley High School senior Darian Estevan Orozco has been accepted in the Stanford University class of 2016.
The 16-year-old, the son of Chris Orozco of Yuba City, plans to study chemical engineering.
As a high school student, he has played doubles tennis and participated in the section tournament for two years.
Mid-Valley
Application period open for entrepreneur scholarship
Applications are being accepted for the Entrepreneurial Scholarship offered by the Yuba, Sutter, Colusa Employer Advisory Council.
Participants must fill out an application form and include a letter of recommendation from a community leader.
Two scholarships of $500 each will be awarded.
Applicants must demonstrate potential entrepreneurial business interest and rationale and show local labor market information for that industry.
The planned business must be within the local area.
Applications, due by Jan. 31, must be returned to the Yuba, Sutter, Colusa Employer Advisory Council at 604 B St., Suite 3, Yuba City, CA 95991.
