Life Briefs: Eagle Scout ceremony at LDS Church

Mason Oakes will receive his Boy Scout Eagle Award with a court of honor at 7 p.m. Jan.31 at The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, 1470 Butte House Road, Yuba City.

His project, on the Yuba City bike path at the Royo Ranchero Road crossing, included planting 12 oak trees, installing two park benches, painting over graffiti, weeding and picking up litter.

The son of Scott and Jessica Oakes, he is a student at River Valley High School and a member of Troop 33.

Tutued flamingo fundraiser in flight

Team Jacque's Dance Expressions is starting "Flamingo Flocking" in the Yuba-Sutter area, raising funds for dancers' competition fees and expenses.

For a donation of $25 or more, a lawn of your choice will be decorated with tutu-wearing flamingos. In addition, the home's residents will receive a goodie bag by the front door and a note detailing who "flocked" them and how to remove the flock.

Contact Nicolette Romig at 742-7500 for more information and scheduling. The fundraiser is coordinated by the JDE Booster Club, a non-profit organization.

Severson heads Snowshoe lodge

David Severson was installed as president of Snowshoe Thompson Lodge, Sons of Norway, during ceremonies Jan. 12 at the club's meeting.

Officers for 2012 also include Jim Loe, vice president; Lois Lewis, secretary; Pamela Sullivan, financial secretary; DeVon Danielson, treasurer; Merilyn Scheidel and Unni Shelton, cultural directors; and Gene Nelson and Leann Contreras, trustees.
