Chamber sets fundraiser event
Taste of Yuba-Sutter, featuring gourmet food, wine and beer from local food vendors, is set, hosted by the Yuba-Sutter Chamber of Commerce.
The event is at 5 p.m. Thursday at the Yuba-Sutter Fairgrounds, 442 Franklin Ave., Yuba City.
Activities include a Chamberopoly board game and raffle drawings.
Admission is $20 per person and includes food tasting, soda and water.

Hallwood
4-H hosting open enrollment
Hallwood 4-H Club is hosting an enrollment meeting at 6 p.m. Monday at the Hallwood Community Church of the Nazarene, 2825 Highway 20, Hallwood.
Open to children and youths from kindergarten to 19 years, the program teaches leadership and responsibilities as well as offering various projects including raising animals, cooking, sewing and arts and crafts.

Area teacher stages recital
Yuba-Sutter music teacher John Paris is performing a solo piano concert at the Sherman Clay piano dealer in Roseville.
The professional musician has been a music teacher in Yuba City schools for several years.
The concert is from 3 to 5 p.m. Sept. 15 at 771 Pleasant Grove Blvd., Suite 150.
Admission is a $5 minimum donation.
Paris has performed with various celebrities including the Moody Blues, Bob Newhart, the Mills Brothers and Bobby Vinton.

Democrats will host Stocker
Yuba County Supervisor Hal Stocker will be the guest speaker at the next meeting of the Yuba County Democratic Central Committee.
He will talk about the “yes on Measure T” campaign.

Lioness breakfast set Sept. 16
Loma Rica Lioness Club is hosting a community breakfast Sept. 16 at the Foothills Lions Community Center, 5667 Fruitland Road, Loma Rica.
Prices are $3.50 for children under 12 years; $4.50 for seniors 55 and over; and $5.50 for adults.
Proceeds are reinvested into the community.

Senior Center offers classes
Classes in computer, tracing your history and the use of Kindle are among the various programs and events set at the Yuba City Senior Center, 777 Ainsley Ave.
The classes include:
Tracing your history – 9:30 a.m. Monday; fee $20 Yuba City resident and $22 non-resident.
Intermediate computer class – 9:30 a.m. Wednesday and Sept. 19 and 26. The fee is $40 for residents and $45, non-residents.
Senior water aerobics – 11 a.m. Monday and Wednesday to Sept. 26; fee $27 resident and $29 non-resident.
Kindle – 3 p.m. Sept. 27; fee $15.
Events at the senior center also include the monthly dance from 6 to 9 p.m. Friday with a fee of $6 per person and a snack to share; and the Collete trips slide show at 10:30 a.m. Sept. 19. Admission is free.
The senior center is also accepting merchandise donations for its annual yard sale set from 8 a.m. to 1 p.m. Sept. 21.

Hot dogs offered for memberships
A free hot dog barbecue lunch is set for new and renewed membership in the Friends of the Sutter County Library.
Membership is $10 per person. Each purchased membership receives a hot dog, chips and drink.
Sign-ups are from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. Sept. 29 in front of the library at 750 Forbes Ave., Yuba City.

Grief support groups meet
Fremont-Rideout Hospice hosts weekly support groups for people experiencing grief due to the death of a loved one at the Fremont-Rideout Conference Center, 989 Plumas St., Yuba City.
Support groups for adults meet from 10 to 11:30 a.m. Tuesday in conference room 1, and from 6:30 to 8 p.m. Thursday in conference room 2.
A “Youth Loss” group, for ages 12 to 18 years, meets from 4:30 to 6 p.m. Thursday at the Feather River Academy, 1895 Lassen Blvd., Room C-10, Yuba City. Parents/caregivers must call by noon that day to reserve a spot.
The grief support group meetings are not affected by holidays.
