Business Briefs: Express Employment coordinating pumpkin deco contest

Local businesses are invited to take part in the Third Annual Pumpkin Decorating Contest coordinated by Express Employment Professionals.

The finished entries will be on display Oct. 17 to 24 at the Yuba Sutter Mall in Yuba City, with shoppers judging for first-, second- and third-place prizes.

The entries will then be delivered to assisted-living facilities in the community.

To participate, a business must complete a pumpkin and have it ready for pickup on Oct. 15.

Sunflower Market customer day slated Oct. 17

Sunflower Natural Foods Market in Yuba City is hosting a Customer Appreciation Day from 9 a.m. to 6 p.m. Oct. 17.

Activities include samples available throughout the store, product demonstrations, and free blood-pressure readings.

Harassment-prevention/ADA seminar set

Reservations are due by Wednesday for the Windmills/American Disability Act and sexual harassment prevention certification program hosted by the Yuba/Sutter/Colusa Employer Advisory Council and the state Employment Development Department.

The program is scheduled from 8 a.m. to noon Oct. 19 at the Peach Tree Golf and Country Club, 2043 Simpson-Dantoni Road, Linda.

Check-in and breakfast are at 7:30 a.m.

Admission is $45 for Advisory Council members and $50 for nonmembers

Two Sunsweet executives promoted

Sunsweet Growers Inc. has announced two promotions at the business based in Yuba City.

Dane Lance, chief operating officer, has been appointed as the company's new president, overseeing various day-to-day operations.

Brad Schuler has been named to the expanded role of vice president of global sales and marketing.

Lance joined Sunsweet in 1989 as vice president of international marketing and formerly worked with the Clorox Co. He received bachelor's and master's degrees in business administration from the University of California, Berkeley.

Schuler came to Sunsweet in 1999 as director of sales, central division. He previously worked for Dole Food Co.and Phillips Food.
