Briefs: Live Oak drowning victims' names not released
The identities of two Live Oak residents who drowned in a pond near Biggs on Saturday were still unavailable Monday.
Because next of kin for the 53-year-old man and his 2-year-old son had not been reached, the Butte County Coroner's Office would not release their identities, an office worker said.
According to the Butte County Sheriff's Department, the man and the boy were in a paddleboat at a swimming hole known as "The Plunge" off Palm Avenue when the boy, who was wearing a life vest, fell out. The man jumped in after his son, but neither could get back into the boat. The man was pronounced dead at the scene, while the boy was taken to Biggs-Gridley Memorial Hospital, where he was pronounced dead.

According to the California Highway Patrol, Palmeri was driving her 2009 Nissan Altima south on Walton Avenue outside Yuba City when she apparently lost control. Palmeri was ejected from the car during the rollover.
No one else was injured in the accident, though a dog in the car with Palmeri was slightly injured, according to the CHP.
