Briefs: Remains found near Sutter Buttes sent to lab
Human remains found earlier this week near the Sutter Buttes summit are on their way to a Justice Department laboratory for DNA analysis, officials said.
Sutter County sheriff's Capt. Lewis McElfresh said investigators hope to identify the man through lab work.
Construction workers found the remains Tuesday afternoon at a campsite, just off an access road close to Pass Road in Sutter County.
Foul play is not suspected, but the cause of death remains under investigation.
"We don't know when he died," McElfresh said.
Anyone with information is asked to call the Sutter County Sheriff's Department at 822-7307.
