Three cheers letter: Cross country participants thanked

The purpose of this letter is to say thank you for the many volunteers, athletes and spectators that attended the 14th annual Yuba-Sutter Cross Country Invite held at Marysville's Riverfront Park on Sept. 28.

Thanks to Mrs. Willoughby, Mercedes Geraldo, Kenni McAlister, Beth Aldridge, Pam Clifton, Peggy Fullmer, Paul Odegard, the Yuba-Sutter Soroptimists, All About Timing Association and the many coaches and athletes that chose our event.

A big thanks to several others not mentioned who helped as well.

Thanks to Harpreet Kaur, representing the Yuba City High Running Club and all of her efforts arranging our concession.

A special thanks to the coaches and parents of elementary and middle schoolers who encouraged/supported many of our local youngsters to participate in such a positive sporting event that can result in lifelong participation, activity, fitness and competition.

While our cross country running season winds down, it is important to note that between Yuba City High School and River Valley High School, that there have been five such local events that have occurred from late August through late October.

With the sport's local talented student athletes now representing our area in qualifying meets outside the area, interested readers will need to choose a variety of venues.
