What brought you to the Yuba-Sutter area? Yuba County Proposition B — the Spring Valley Project — in 1990.

Favorite places to go to in the area? Crossroads nondenominational church and Bethel AME Church, the Bok Kai Parade, Peach Festival, Yuba City Town Center fountain with my dog, Rascal, biking around the Buttes.

Where would you like to retire to someday? West Palm Beach, Fla. My mom and sister are there. I like what I've seen.

What is the closest you've been to a famous person? Florence Nightingale designed my nursing hat from the University of Maryland.

If you were granted one wish, what would you wish for? The elimination of world hunger. And world peace.

What is your dream vacation? The Bahamas.

Who has had a strong influence in your life? My dad and my older brother. Dad taught me to appreciate communication. My brother taught me the value of learning — one of his favorite sayings was "Don't die dumb."

What did you want to be when you were a kid? Nurse.

Do you belong to any clubs or organizations in the community? Toastmasters International; one-on-one personal training; (union) Local No. 1 board of directors and site rep; president of Peachbowl Dawnbreakers Club No. 1819, Yuba City.

What would you like to see different in the community? More people who keep their word; more value placed on the needs of children in the community.

What do you like about yourself? I will always ask.
