Driver ID'd in fatal Yuba City pedestrian crash

The investigation continues into Sunday’s fatal pedestrian traffic collision in Yuba City.

Police on Tuesday identified the driver of the vehicle that struck and killed a 78-year-old man as Dave Roda of Yuba City.

Roda, 35, was driving a 1998 Dodge pickup truck north on Gray Avenue around 5:20 p.m. when he struck Antonio Jimenez, who was crossing the road from Forbes Avenue, according to the Yuba City Police Department.

Jimenez was pronounced dead at the scene, authorities said.

Sgt. Michael Green said today that investigators are still looking into the incident and awaiting toxicology test results, which could take more than a week to process.

Officers have previously said alcohol is not believed to be a factor in the crash.

No arrests have been made.
