Classic Ballroom hosting dance

Classic Ballroom of Marysville is hosting its "Black and White Dance" Jan. 12, preceded by lessons in waltz.

The dance is from 8 to 10:30 p.m., with the one-hour lesson at 7 p.m., at the Allyn Scott Youth and Community Center, 1830 B St., Marysville.

The cost is $5 for the dance and $5 for the lesson.

No dance is planned in December.

Garden club takes up bulbs Tuesday

Bulbs is the subject of the Sutter Buttes Garden Club upcoming general meeting.

The group meets at 10 a.m. Tuesday at the Yuba-Sutter Fairgrounds, 442 Franklin Ave. in Yuba City, with speaker Jackie Whitnack.

Marysville woman performs in play

Belgica Paola Rodriguez of Marysville, a student at California State University, East Bay, is performing in the play "NN12" at the Hayward campus.

Translated from Spanish, the play focuses on the only female found among 12 unknown bodies in a mass grave in an unknown location through the experiences of four persons.

The play's English language debut is at 8 p.m. Nov. 30 and Dec. 1 at the university's Studio Theatre, 25800 Carlos Bee Blvd., Hayward.

The author of the play, Gracia Morales of Granada, Spain, will discuss the play before and after the performance.

Yuba Gardens reunion Dec. 8

Students and friends of Yuba Gardens Elementary School's class of 1956 are invited to a Christmas party in December.

Members of the school's first eighth-grade graduating class are asked to share a favorite story.

Dinner will be served at 7 p.m. Dec. 8 at Ruthy's restaurant, 229 Clark Ave., Yuba City.

The cost is $20 per person.

Class on diabetes set for Tuesday

A class on the basics of diabetes is being hosted by the Yuba-Sutter Children's Type 1 Diabetes Support Group and Resource Center.

Scheduled from 3 to 5 p.m. Tuesday, the class is at the resource center, 990 Klamath Lane, Suite 1, Yuba City. A certified diabetes educator will be available to answer questions.

Museum seeks volunteers

Volunteers are sought for the Community Memorial Museum of Sutter County in Yuba City.

Duties include greeting visitors at the front desk and helping with various activities. Volunteers are asked to give a few hours a month.

Volunteers sought by Highway Patrol

The California Highway Patrol Senior Volunteer Program, Yuba-Sutter office, is seeking volunteers to help with public safety in the community.

The program is for individuals 55 years and over.

Volunteers sought are persons with a strong background in personal skills, typing and miscellaneous office work. Duties also include vehicle fleet operations and public affairs.
