Briefs: River Valley students set for FFA conference
Four River Valley High School students will stay at the Sacramento Hilton while attending a January conference to increase the effectiveness of FFA leadership.
The students and an Ag Incentive Grant pay for the trip, according to Yuba City Unified School District report. School district trustees take up the trip at their Tuesday meeting.
Made for Excellence and Advanced Leadership Academy will be held Jan. 11-12 in Sacramento.

Winter concert at Yuba College
The Winter Instrumental concert is scheduled for 7:30 p.m. Friday at Yuba Community College, 2088 N. Beale Road, Linda.
Featuring the Yuba College Symphonic Band and Jazz Ensemble, the concert is directed by Jennifer Aldridge.
General admission is $8 per person or $6 for students and seniors.

MARYSVILLE
Art gallery function is Dec. 1
A Grand Opening of Art-O-Culture is planned from 4 p.m.- 8 p.m. Dec. 1 at 419 D St., Marysville.
Spearheaded by Lily Noonan, the art gallery is the former Gallery34 and features many local artists as a collective.
Art-O-Culture is a program sponsored by the Yuba-Sutter Regional Arts Council.

YUBA CITY
Signups begin for Polar Plunge
Registration is under way for the 2013 Polar Bear Plunge and Slide sponsored by the Yuba City Parks and Recreation department.
The event is planned for 8:30 a.m. Jan. 1 at Gauche Aquatic Park, 421 C St., Yuba City.
Participants who register prior to Dec. 15 will receive a T-shirt. Cost is $20 per person before Dec. 26 or $30 afterward.
