One of the transported drivers was identified as Yuba County Superior Court Judge Debra Givens. She was appointed by Gov. Arnold Schwarzenegger in 2004.

Another driver, identified as 23-year-old Mercedes Brockman of Yuba City, was also hospitalized in the crash.

Brockman, the driver of a Jeep 4x4 heading north on Market Street hit Givens' BMW 325 waiting to make a left turn and pushed it into a southbound Chevrolet Silverado, according to witness information gathered by Yuba City Police Sgt. Steve Thornton.

Yuba City police spokeswoman Shawna Pavey confirmed that Givens was one of the drivers involved.

The driver of the Silverado, 54-year-old Manjit Gill of Yuba City, was not taken to a hospital.

The road was closed for about an hour as officers worked at the scene and cleared the roadway.
