Jacqueline Murphy

Name: Jacqueline Murphy.

Age: 25.

Family: Husband and a baby daughter.

Residence: Yuba City.

Occupation: Cook at Linda's Soda Bar and Grill in Yuba City.

Where do you get your news? I get news and weather on my phone.

What is your goal for the new year? Learn how to be a mom.

What brought you to the Yuba-Sutter area? I've been here since 1994 — my parents moved up here when my grandmother died.

What Yuba-Sutter points of interest would you mention to new residents? Happy Viking, Linda's Soda Bar, car shows.

What is the closest you've been to a famous person? I saw Flava Flav in 2006 at the Los Angeles airport as he drove by. I only noticed him because of the big, old clock he wears.

What would you do with a million dollars? I'm a workaholic, so I'd put it in savings and build up interest. Maybe buy a dream house, a mansion, so when I did retire I would have something to clean.

Who has had a strong influence in your life? My mother. She always told me I could be what I wanted to; I would get what I wanted with a little bit of honey.

Do you have a favorite memory you would like to share? Actually, two memories. When I was 2 years old, my mother took me to see my first movie, "Beauty and the Beast." When I turned 24 she and I went to see "Beauty and the Beast" in 3-D. She died soon after my birthday. It was the first and last movie I saw with her.

What did you want to be when you were a kid? A forensic scientist. I enjoy a puzzle.

What would you like to see different in the community? More interaction between people. You'd think in a small community people would know each other better, that they would be more courteous.

What do you like about yourself? My heart — I never stop giving chances to people, no matter how many times I get burned.

What is your pet peeve? My husband not arguing back with me — and he's a marriage/family therapist. And I hate to hear, "How does that make you feel?"

What is your dream job? Own my own coffee house and make coffee all day.

Your favorite spots in the Yuba-Sutter area: Chili's in Yuba City and Wood Butcher in Marysville.

Where is your dream vacation? Las Vegas. I have never left California.
