Business Briefs: Walnut Day on Feb. 21
A presentation on considerations when planting and pruning a young walnut orchard is part of the Sutter-Yuba-Colusa Walnut Day on Feb. 21 at the Veterans Memorial Building in Yuba City.
The event is scheduled from 1 p.m.-4:30 p.m., with registration starting at 12:15 p.m.
Topics also include spacing trees for both early and mature production; an update on laws and regulations; and the state of the walnut industry in California.
The day is sponsored by the University of California Extension, Sutter/ Yuba and Colusa counties and the Sutter County Agricultural Department.

Marysville event will link growers, buyers
"Regional Ag Speed Dating," connecting producers and growers with qualified buyers, is slated March 4 in Marysville, coordinated by the Butte County Economic Development Corporation.
The free get-together is scheduled from 9 a.m.-noon at the Yuba County Government Center, 915 Eighth St., sponsored by the Yuba County Economic Development Corporation.
Similar events are slated Feb. 18 in Chico and Feb. 25 in Redding, with participants accepted on a first-come, first-served basis.
The Upstate California Economic Development Council is a co-sponsor. Sponsorship is also available for the program.

Marcello's sales aiding dance team
Marcello's Italian Restaurant in Yuba City is donating 20 percent of its sales from 4 p.m.-9 p.m. Wednesday to Team JDE Booster Club for the Jacques Dance Expressions' competition dance team.
Customers are asked to mention Team JDE to make the donation. The eatery is located at 1235 Bridge St.
Restaurant owners Octavio and Alma Perez plan to host a fundraising dinner for the group once a month.

Toyota dealers helping Make-A-Wish
Toyota dealerships in Northern California, including the one in Yuba City, are working to raise donations for Make-A-Wish chapters.
Through the end of 2013, customers are invited to donate $10 at a participating dealership for a $20 voucher toward future service or an installed Toyota accessory.
Make-A-Wish grants the wishes of children with life-threatening medical conditions. Chapters include the Make-A-Wish Foundation of Northeastern California and Northern Nevada, covering a 37-county area.
