Yuba City girl in pageant
Yuba City resident Susan Graham was selected to compete in the 2013 Miss Jr. Teen Sacramento pageant April 7.
An eighth grade student at Bear River Middle School in Wheatland, she enjoys singing, music and plays basketball, gymnastics and runs track.
She is the daughter of Martha Elliott of Yuba City and the grandaughter of Daniel and Kathy Herbert of Wheatland.
Marysville
Speech winners named by Rotary
Four Wheatland High School students won awards in the Yuba Feather Rivers Sunrise Rotary Club annual speech contest held March 7 at Gary's Place in Marysville.
Senior Schelby Polines won first place, junior Marco Zamora won second place and sophomore Betty Callaway and junior Keith Hoek tied for third.
Winners received prize checks and certificates.
First place winner, Schelby went on to compete in the semi-finals.

Grief Recovery seminars offered
Grief Recovery Support Group classes to help those dealing with loss of a loved one are being held from 6:30 p.m.-8:30 p.m. every Thursday at the Hallwood Nazarene Church, 2825 Highway 20, Hallwood.
Topics include "Living with Grief," "When your spouse dies" and "Lessons of Grief."
Seminars are facilitated by Susan Smith.
Workbooks are available and cost $15. Financial assistance is available.

Assemblyman Dan Logue will be the guest speaker for the next Sutter-Yuba Republican Women Federated dinner meeting.
