David C. Triplett
David Clarence Triplett, 85, of Yuba City died Oct. 3, 2003, at his residence.
Born in Montebello, he was a Yuba-Sutter resident for the past 78 years.
He was the first building official and head of the Sutter County Building Inspection Department, retiring at the age of 58. Previously, he farmed with his father and grew beans, rice and peaches.
He was on a school board of trustees, served seven years as secretary of the Planning Commission, active in Scouts and an active member of the Yuba City Ward of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints.
He was a graduate of Yuba City High School and attended Yuba College, where he was inducted into the Athletic Hall of Fame for his achievements in football.
After college, he served a two-year mission for The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints in the northern states area.
Survivors include his wife of 58 years, Rose Mary Triplett of Yuba City; two sons, David C. Triplett Jr. and Mark L. Triplett, both of Yuba City; three daughters, Mary DeWitt of Yuba City, Joy Bowes of Marysville and Lane Hetherington of San Diego; 14 grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by a sister and two brothers.
Services: Visitation will be from 2 to 8 p.m. Wednesday at Ullrey Memorial Chapel. A funeral service will be at 10 a.m. Thursday at The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints on Clark Avenue in Yuba City, with Bishop Mark Gillming officiating. Burial will be in Sutter Cemetery.
