Yuba softball splits twinbill
It was a mixed day for the Yuba College softball team as the 49ers traveled to Sacramento City College on Saturday afternoon for a doubleheader with both Sac City and College of the Redwoods.
The 49ers split the two games and moved to 4-3 overall on the young season.
Yuba fell 8-4 to host Sac City as the 49ers committed four errors, three in the sixth inning, to drop the first game of the twinbill.
The score was tied 4-4 until the sixth when Yuba's errors helped the Panthers blow things open.
Rachel Quinn led Yuba at the plate by going 3 for 4 with a double and an RBI. The Niners pounded out nine hits as a team.
Game two was a bit more fruitful as Yuba beat College of the Redwoods 3-2 behind Quinn, who tossed seven complete innings with nine strikeouts and just two hits allowed. Freshman Jacky Tanner finished 2 for 4 with an RBI and a run scored.
Yuba travels to Diablo Valley College on Thursday for a doubleheader with DVC and Hartnell.
