Yuba softball spilts doubleheader
After belting out 13 hits in a 9-2 rout of Diablo Valley College on Thursday, the Yuba College softball team could only muster up a single hit in a 1-0 loss to Hartnell in Pleasant Hill.
While Yuba's Rachel Quinn only allowed three hits and no walks in seven innings from the circle, an unearned run allowed Hartnell to escape with the win.
Dylanne Brown was the only 49er to manage a hit.
"We hit the ball hard, so it's frustrating," said Yuba coach Stephanie Reynolds.
The two-game split puts Yuba's record at 5-3 overall.
In the opener, Jacky Tanner went 4 for 5, while Taylor Crabb and Ashley Gilmore each finished 2 for 4 from the plate. Brown had a double and two RBIs.
McKenzie Kraus tossed 51⁄3 innings with three strikeouts. She issued one walk and allowed five hits before Quinn wrapped things up. She struck out one and allowed no hits against the final five batters.
Yuba will face off against Delta and Butte at Delta College on Monday.
