Tice, Hahn excel at Delta Meet

Yuba City High product Christian Divelbiss hit a solo home run during a four-run eighth inning and followed it up by drawing a bases-loaded walk in the bottom of the ninth as the Yuba College baseball team earned a three-game sweep of Butte College after a 7-6 walk-off victory at Appeal-Democrat Park in Marysville on Saturday afternoon.

Dustyn Macaluso went 3 for 4 with a triple and Brandon Lockwood was 2 for 4 with a double and a pair of RBIs for Yuba, which collected nine hits on the day to improve to 7-4 on the year. Anthony Caretti added a double as well in the win.

Yuba City alum Ryan Pope struck out nine and allowed five hits over six strong innings in a no-decision. Michael Beck allowed an unearned run in the top of the ninth, but picked up the win in relief to improve his record to 2-0 on the season.

Tice, Hahn excel at Delta Meet

In Stockton — Rachel Tice recorded three first-place finishes and Stephanie Hahn finished first in two events to lead 49ers at the Delta Preview Meet at San Joaquin Delta College.

Tice took first in the shot put (38 feet, 2 inches), discus (123-10) and broke her own school record in the hammer (166-3). She is ranked No. 3 in the nation for junior colleges in the hammer throw.

Hahn placed first in the high jump (3-8) and javelin (77-8), and was fifth in the shot put (26-9).

Shaneen Casada took second in the hammer (145-2), and third in both the shot put (28-8) and discus (95-10). Casada is ranked 12th in the nation in the hammer as well.

Rounding out the top performers for the Yuba women was Guadalupe Magana, who took fourth in the 1500 (6 minutes, 40 seconds) and fifth in the 800 (3:17).

On the men's side, the 49ers were led by Javone Bradford, who placed first in the long jump (22-3) and triple jump (44-2), and third in the 100 (11.53 seconds).

River Valley High grad Wade DeBarolo took first in the discus (132-0), fourth in the hammer (112-10) and fifth in the shot put (39-1), while Ben Ieremia placed first in the shot put (41-10).

Pat Rawlins was second in the long jump (22-0) and third in the triple jump (42-0), Sean Rawlins placed fourth in the triple jump (40-11) and Lance Burton took fifth in the hammer (107-3) for Yuba.
