PREP ROUNDUP: Yuba City girls soccer still searching for victory

Honkers fall to Woodland; RV ties Inderkum

The Yuba City High girls soccer team remained winless in Tri-County Conference play following a 4-1 loss to Woodland at Honker Stadium on Wednesday night.

Cassidy Fix scored the lone goal for the Honkers with an assist from defender Ashleigh Stoddard.

With the loss, Yuba City fell to 2-6 overall and to 0-3 in the TCC.

Yuba City's JV squad fared a little better, earning a 2-1 victory over the Wolves.

Fernanda Berrera and Casey Bingham each scored a goal for the Honkers (1-1 in TCC).

Coach Tim Danna credited Stephanie Zavala, Natalie Perez, Leslie Ayala and Paulina Nunez with great play on defense. Hannah Kircher made five saves in goal.

River Valley 0, Inderkum 0

In Sacramento — The Falcons and Tigers played to a tie in TCC action.

River Valley coach Jeff Stanhope said Jackie Koch played well in the midfield and Carla Ruiz made 11 saves in goal for the shutout.

RV moved to 7-3-2 overall and 1-0-2 in TCC play with the draw.

Capital Christian 6, Marysville 0

In Marysville — The Indians fell to 0-2 in the Golden Empire League with a loss to the Cougars at Marks Field.

Marysville coach Dallas McBride praised the play of junior Linda Mota at midfield and goalkeeper, as well as the offensive play of senior Annie Wooten and sophomore Makaylan Ferris in the loss for the Indians (2-8).

SOFTBALL

Lindhurst 8, Maxwell 3

In Maxwell — Freshman Asailah Brown went 3 for 3 with a double and Teja Butler was 2 for 4 with a triple to help propel the Blazers to a nonleague victory over the Panthers.

Shawna Hulsey earned the win from the circle by striking out eight and allowing six hits in a complete-game effort.

Lindhurst (6-4) will resume GEL play today at home against West Campus.

GOLF

River Valley 227, Inderkum 258

In Olivehurst — Steven Spatafore was the low-man with a 41 and the Falcons moved to a perfect 3-0 in the TCC with a victory over the Tigers at Plumas Lake Golf & Country Club.

Kyle Gash fired a 44, Lucas Vaughn shot a 45, Jordan Davis recorded a 46 and Jordan Noall carded a 52 to round out the scores for River Valley, which improved to 5-2 overall.

BOYS TENNIS

River Valley 7, Woodland 2

In Yuba City — The Falcons topped the Wolves in TCC play, led by Josh Fujii who picked up a 6-2, 6-2 win.

Other singles victories came from Rahman Tabusum (6-4, 6-3), Ismael Ramirez (6-3, 6-4) and Renz Chua (6-2, 6-2).

Marco Tica teamed with Martin Flores for a 6-0, 5-7, 10-4 victory, and the Falcons picked up two wins via forfeit in doubles.

RV improved to 10-3 overall and 3-1 in TCC play with the win.
