Cooler weather helped the 2007 Yuba-Sutter Fair set an attendance record.

2007 fair sets attendance mark

Attendance at this year's Yuba-Sutter Fair reached a new high for the second straight year, organizers said.

The annual Mid-Valley event at the Yuba City Fairgrounds attracted some 67,220 spectators from Wednesday until its closing Sunday night, according to Regina Goody, the fair manager and chief executive. The total was about 3.5 percent above the 65,000, also a record, who attended the 2006 event.

Goody credited an unusual touch of cool weather on the final day with making conditions comfortable enough to boost turnout, saying triple-digit temperatures have cut into attendance at past fairs. More than 20,000 visited the Yuba City Fairgrounds on closing day.
