Letter: Where are buyers for Yuba Highlands?

Comments 0 | Recommend 0

A housing project of 5,100 houses, called Yuba Highlands, was approved by Yuba County supervisors by a 3-to-2 vote. The location is very near Beale Air Force Base and the Spenceville Wildlife Area.

It did not take long for a group of concerned citizens to get a referendum signed by the necessary number of registered voters to get it on the ballot for the Feb. 5 election.

Many factors will impact Yuba County citizens. One real concern is the housing market itself. How do they expect to sell 5,100 houses when there are so many houses already for sale in this county?

If the project goes through and goes "belly up," what would be the cost to taxpayers?

Please vote "No" on the Yuba Highlands project.

BACK TO SCHOOL?
The new GI Bill benefits vary from state to state depending on tuition and fees, replacing the previous flat stipend, and also includes a formula for private college assistance. Do you agree with this approach?
Yes, it allows veterans more choices of where to attend college.
I like it, but the private school policy is flawed in California.
I think it's too generous.
No, it pits states against each other.
