Letter: Worried about Yuba rock quarry

Comments 0 | Recommend 0

As residents of south Yuba County, we are concerned about a proposed rock quarry project. The draft EIR for the Ostrom Road Quarry and Asphalt Batching Plant is available for inspection at the Yuba County government office, the Marysville Library or online at the Yuba County Web site.

We encourage everyone living in and around Wheatland and the surrounding area to become aware of this project and the potential impact on them.

Some of the major concerns are the project’s water usages and the possible contamination of Dry Creek, and the air quality, both due to dust and asphalt production. Then, there is the problem with heavy gravel trucks on our roads. And, lastly, the increased noise factors. There are many other issues that bring concern.

BACK TO SCHOOL?
The new GI Bill benefits vary from state to state depending on tuition and fees, replacing the previous flat stipend, and also includes a formula for private college assistance. Do you agree with this approach?
Yes, it allows veterans more choices of where to attend college.
I like it, but the private school policy is flawed in California.
I think it's too generous.
No, it pits states against each other.
