Irene Deveraux

Irene Deveraux, 69, of Yuba City died Sept. 9, 2006, at her residence.


Born in Worland, Wyo., she was a Yuba-Sutter resident since 1959.


She was a retired clerk for the Marysville Joint Unified School District.


She was a graduate of Manderson High School in Manderson, Wyo., and attended Rocky Mountain College in Billings, Mont.


Also, she was active in the Parent Teacher Association, United Way, American Cancer Society and 1986 Flood Relief.


Survivors include her husband of 50 years, George Deveraux Sr. of Yuba City; a daughter, Jackie Bumpus of Yuba City; a son, George Deveraux Jr. of Marysville; a brother, William Eckerdt of Basin, Wyo.; two sisters, Marion Black of Worland, Wyo., and Georgina Wright of Carrolton, Texas; seven grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren.


She was preceded in death by a daughter, Georgette Deveraux Gimblin; and a brother, Bob Eckerdt.


Donations may be made to the Georgette Deveraux Gimblin Memorial Scholarship Fund, in care of Yuba College, 2088 N. Beale Road, Marysville, CA 95901.


Services: Visitation is from 4 to 7 p.m. Thursday at Ullrey Memorial Chapel in Yuba City. A service is scheduled at 1 p.m. Friday at Marysville First United Methodist Church, Seventh and D street, Marysville. Lay Minister Lelah Holmes will officiate. Burial will be in Sierra View Memorial Park in Olivehurst.
