What brought you to the Yuba-Sutter area? When I worked for Mobil Chemical in Woodland, I bought a home in Yuba City and commuted.
What keeps you in the Yuba-Sutter area? The thought of moving doesn't attract me. I ride my bike to work and love to hike.
What is the closest you've been to a famous person? My dad was in the orchestra at Tahoe's South Shore when I was a kid — I met several, including Sammy Davis Jr. and Liberace; I have photos with them. My dad would go to parties, and I would meet people.
What would you do with a million dollars? Anything for advocacy for animals and ecology.
What is your dream vacation? Tour our country. There's so much to see.
Tell us about a favorite memory: Growing up in the '50s in Denver, Colo. It was a simpler time, enjoyable. Sometimes you don't know what you've missed until you actually miss it.
Do you play any musical instruments? Music was my life — I majored in music and play alto sax and piano. The organ is my favorite.
What is your dream job? A train engineer.
What is your pet peeve? People that are cruel to animals, any kind. I can't abide them. The same way with children, but for animals, there is no one to protect them. They can't speak for themselves.
What do you like about yourself? I'm still 12 years old inside. As a kid in Denver, I remember standing next to a tree with my six gun strapped on, and I never wanted to grow up.
