FNL raising alcohol awareness with concert

Bands performing at Beckwourth Riverfront Park on Saturday

Even with the drinking age at 21, minors still find a way to consume alcohol.

Hoping to bring attention to the dangers of underage drinking, Friday Night Live is sponsoring a free all-day concert at Beckwourth Riverfront Park Pavilion in Marysville on Saturday.

The concert begins at 2 p.m. and runs to 10 p.m.

"We have all kinds of bands performing," said Amber Royer of Friday Night Live.

The bands scheduled to perform include The Paper Melody, The Martian Puppits, Amber Dawn, The Mainland, Brubaker, Faith Fall Short, Tijuana Taxi and Mud Stone.

Each band will perform sets lasting about 45 minutes, but the Martian Puppits and Tijuana Taxi will perform for up to 90 minutes each.

In between each band's performance, speakers will hit the stage to discuss the dangers of alcoholism and to promote a healthy lifestyle.

In addition, the event will have a children's area, vendors and various information booths.
