"Grease" is the word at Yuba City High School starting this weekend, as the school stages a production of the classic musical.

"This is a high-energy play that's a lot of fun," said the play's director, Linda Robinson. "This will bring back wonderful memories of high school."

"Grease" is a musical centered around the students at Rydell High School in 1959, as they navigate their love lives. The play opens on the last day of their senior year.

Sandy (Brynn Henry) is the new girl in town and tells the Pink Ladies, Frenchy (Alexis Macy and Krystal Wiggins), Marty (Morgan Hunter and Billie Smith) and Rizzo (Elizabeth Hastey) about her summer love with Danny Zuko (Brandon Visaraga), the leader of the Burger Palace Boys.

Sandy and Danny soon bump into each other at the school, but Danny rejects her. The rest of the play is about their relationship (or lack thereof) and what their senior year experiences.

"Every year, I try to pick a play that matches the kids I have, and we had the right cast for it (this year)," Robinson said. "We did this before about eight years ago, and I thought it was a good time to bring it back.

"The kids are really excited about it."
