Aleron Trio to perform in Yuba City

The internationally acclaimed Aleron Trio will perform Thursday as part of Tri-County Concert Association's 2012-2013 season.

The trio's members — including Solenn Seguillon, violin; Anne Suda, cello; and Teresa Yu, piano — hail from three countries: France, United States and Taiwan, respectively. Substitute pianist Michelle Cann will perform with Seguillon and Suda at First United Methodist Church in Yuba City. The group's stated mission is to present chamber music to as broad a range of audiences as possible.

"They relate well with all ages," TCCA volunteer coordinator Alisan Hastey said of the Aleron Trio. "The TCCA is really concentrating on reaching out to people of all ages. And we just thought (The Aleron Trio's) expertise — their clarity — was beautiful."

The Aleron Trio's program will include Beethoven's "Piano Trio No. 1 in E-flat Major"; Brahms' "Piano Trio No. 1 in B Major"; and Schoenfield's "Cafe Music."

TCCA — which has brought professional musicians to the Yuba-Sutter area to perform since 1929, is "local, community-based," Hastey said. "We are committed to continuing to bring live, quality music to our community. It's not easy. It's an ongoing job that we love. We volunteer and would love others to join us and be part of it."

The Aleron Trio will also perform a student outreach on Thursday afternoon for students at Marysville Charter Academy for the Arts.

"We would love to have patrons join us. The student outreaches are usually about $500 in addition to the regular concert. So if someone would like to help with underwriting the cost ... But we are committed to reaching out to the students," Hastey said.

"Our purpose is to introduce as many children as possible to the joy of this caliber of music and for the students to experience the musicians talking with and playing directly to them," the association said at its website.

Hastey, who is a TCCA past president, also teaches music in Marysville Joint Unified School District at Anna McKenney Intermediate School and MCAA. As TCCA volunteer coordinator, she said she helps to place TCCA's approximately 25 volunteers into duties that they enjoy but also help to advance TCCA's mission, including the numerous tasks connected to producing a successful concert event and getting the community involved.

"Continue the legacy. This is a wonderful opportunity to be able to hear world-class live music, and it's tremendously affordable. You don't have to leave the community to go hear amazing musicians," Hastey said.
