Spokesman: Cal Water reduced rate increase by foregoing capital improvement projects

California Water Service's requested rate increase in Marysville, which dropped from 34.8 percent to 10.16 percent for 2014, won't go before the state Public Utilities Commission until after Jan. 1.

Therefore, if approved, the increase would take effect sometime in the first quarter of 2014, a Cal Water spokesman said on Friday.
