Suspect in Linda attacks at large

Three Linda teenagers were robbed and cut with a knife early Tuesday at a motel, according to a Yuba County Sheriff's Department spokeswoman.

An employee of the Rio Inn & Suites, 899 N. Beale Road, reported the incident shortly before 1 a.m.

A suspect, 19-year-old Robert Aulabaugh, is being sought on suspicion of attempted murder, said spokeswoman Melanie Oakes.

Aulabaugh visited the teenagers' room earlier in the evening with an acquaintance, then returned alone and forced his way in. He demanded money while brandishing a knife with a 4-inch blade, said Oakes.

Aulabaugh, who was described as irrational, lunged repeatedly with the knife despite the victims' compliance.

After one victim escaped, Aulabaugh fled with cell phones and wallets containing a total of about $60.

The most seriously wounded victim, Keith Porter, 19, received stitches for a laceration to the neck. Wounds to the other victims, Steven Frisbie, 19, and a 17-year-old boy whose name was not released because of his age, were described as minor. All were treated and released.

Porter and the 17-year-old chased Aulabaugh but could not catch him. About 20 officers, aided by a California Highway Patrol helicopter, also searched without success.

Aulabaugh frequents East Linda but also may be in the Yuba County foothills. He was described as white, about 5-feet-9 and 175 pounds. He has blue eyes, a shaved head, a swastika tattoo on his chest and the words "white power" tattooed on his upper back.

Aulabaugh was last seen wearing a white tank top.

Anyone with information is asked to call the Yuba County Sheriff's Department at 530-749-7777.
